7th Lesson – Günaydın! (Good Morning!)

Info

Here is some more basic conversations in the daily life. Translations are not word to word ones. They just give the same meaning. As you can consider we can’t translate one language completely into another. So I try to give the exact meanings not the exact words…

- Wake up! I am snoring!<br />- God damn you Sait! :)

- Wake up! I am snoring!
- God damn you Sait! :)

- Günaydın! (Good morning!)

- Günaydın efendim! Nasılsınız? (Good morning sir! How are you?)

- İyiyim teşekkür ederim. Siz nasılsınız? (I am fine, thank you. How are you?)

- İyiyim bende. (I am fine, too.) Kahvaltı için ne alırsınız? (What do you want[take,get] for breakfast?)

- Sahanda yumurta, ekmek ve süt, lütfen. (Fried egg, bread and milk, please.)

- Tamam efendim. Hemen dönerim. (Ok sir. I’ll be right back.)

Some expressions that are used for greeting, according to time;

  • Günaydın = Good morning
  • Tünaydın = Good afternoon ( Actually we don’t use these much! We use İyi günler! instead.)
  • İyi günler = Have a nice day
  • İyi akşamlar = Good evenings
  • İyi geceler = Good nights

That’s it for now. See you in the next lesson which is about sentence structure in Turkish (Cümle yapısı).Previous Lesson – Merhaba! (Hello!) | Next Lesson – Cümle Yapısı (Sentence Structure) (Günaydın!)
